Forming

Involves getting to know the various members of the team.

Team members can identify each others strengths and weaknesses within the team itself

Each of the team members roles can be defined

Storming

 
Goals for the team are set, within this stage they are often relatively unrealistic

Individuals within the team will work together in order to maintain control

Team members ideas often clash within this stage

Team members may compete for control of the group

Goals are focused upon, as opposed to how they can be achieved


Norming

Within this stage the group will have came to a conclusion as to how they can work together effectively

 Working towards meeting their goal

Give and recieve feedback

The group will begin to value individual differences

Trust develops within the team
 

Performing

Make progress towards achieving the teams overall goal

The team now should be fully functioning

Feedback should enable constructive changes to take place

The team should constantly be improving whilst goals are being achieved
